Welcome to Huron Township
A SELF-ZONED COMMUNITY
A SELF-ZONED COMMUNITY
Located in the north east corner of Huron County, Huron Township was organized by the Supervisors of Sanilac County in 1854.
The first settler was Theodore Luce who erected a water-powered sawmill near the mouth of Willow Creek in 1837.
The Hubbard Family bought the property in 1856 and took a leading role in the building of churches, schools, lodging accommodations, and roads.
Huron Township is primarily agricultural.
The township is made up of 35 sections,
four of which are partial, due to the approximately 4.5 miles of Lake Huron shoreline, and is home to 437 residents.

APPLICATION NOW AVAILABLE
FOR
DEFERRAL OF SUMMER PROPERTY TAX
Please contact Janice Bender at 989.551.7850
for an application
for the deferral of the summer property tax.
This form must be completed and returned to Janice by
September 15, 2024.
Provisions of the General Property Tax Act, Public Act 206 of 1893,
as amended, allows local tax collecting units to defer
the collection of taxes for property owners who meet strict eligibility requirements set forth in the act.
An owner may file a completed deferment of property tax form with his or her city or township treasurer by the designated deadline.
A valid deferment permits property taxes to be paid at a later date, without any additional penalty and interest, as long as
the new payment deadline is met.
